Pastel Supplies:
Pastels are fun AND pricey, so I have created two kits here, pick you comfort level:
More Fun:
Sennelier 80 Half-stick Set.
NuPastels 12 stick set.
More Reasonable but also capable of making great paintings:
Sennelier 40 half-stick set.
Nu Pastels 24 stick set or 12 stick set.
You will also need for both sets:
Art Spectrum Sanded Paper 11 x 14 pad of ten or similar.
A worn out or really, really cheap bristle brush—this is your eraser. I’ll give you one if you don’t have one.
About a cup of Gamsol or isopropyl alcohol in a shatterproof container. (A small format nalgene works great).
Paper Towels (VIVA!), but really, anything except the towels available in the studio.
Small sketchbook and pencil or pen.
Workable Fixative— !Never use indoors! !Not good to breathe!
There is a non-toxic casein alternative, but I have never had good luck with it.Optional but nice:
A pad of tracing paper that is larger than your sanded papers for easy transport, or parchment paper.
A portfolio for carrying pastels around
